Data Analysis -- Detection of Proteins, Carbohydrates, Lipids, and Nucleic Acids

These tests are made to detect large amounts of these complexes. In the case that any of these come out with positive data, they are a pretty reliable source of evidence. These tests may be used after some signs from earlier tests have indicated these things might be found in significant quantities.

Positive: Proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, or nucleic acids found. Life indicated.

Negative: None of the above detected.

False-positive: Contamination may occur. Apparent proteins might be produced by inorganic processes.
