Habitat Communication SystemsThe Atlantis II uses a variety of systems to communicate. As outlined under communications, there are three levels of systems, for all of which the habitat is a central item. The first level is the fiber optic cable connecting Atlantis II to a nearby island. Alongside this line is the main power lead which powers the habitat. The second level is the internal systems. These include an intercom system, an ethernet network, a linux network manager, and the various computer systems used by each of the labs. Also apart of this level is the sensory network of cameras mounted on the outside of the hull. The third level is the acoustic network connecting the Atlantis II to the LEEAMITe, the EVE, and the various robots. On the habitat end of this system is tower setup close to the main structure. This tower mounts a set of 6 acoustic modems each of which can connect with a seperate vehicle. |
