The problems that resulted from Hurricane Katrina directed us to evaluate problems faced by the coastal regions not only in the New Orleans and United States, but around the world. We are aware that there are few coastal committees and organizations which are already in function like the Coastal Advisory Committee and Critical Coastal Areas Committee.  However our plan is to create a United Nations committee that encompasses all the coastal regions around the world.

The purpose of CCC is to continually evaluate coastal regions and assess the risks of global warming, sea level rise, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis and other problems faced by global regions and propose solutions to improve the life in the coastal regions as well as the conditions of the environment. The CCC will have specialized departments that will take care of the almost of every aspect coastal regions including educating people on the different kinds of protection (i.e. insurance, building materials) available to them to developing economic growth in these regions. Also, the CCC will develop building codes and plans for coastal emergencies  and enforce these among the regions. We are aware there are many people in  the coastal regions that are under the poverty level; but the CCC will make its plan affordable and environment friendly so that in future disasters, peoples' lives' will not be altered so drastically.
The CCC will function as support system for the coastal regions around the world.  It will have representatives from each coastal region as opposed to each country, so the necessities of the different coastal regions can be equally represented. The headquarters for the CCC will be in New York City as a part of the United Nations and would function as a UN body. Funding for CCC will be shared between the coastal regions participating in it. Representatives for CCC will be from each coastal region and will be composed of scientist and diplomats. The details on the constitution of the CCC will be worked out shortly and will be posted on our website.
