Once you switch the machine on, it will stay on until you flip the switch back; it will not turn off on its own. If you leave the machine on, leftover coffee in the pot can burn or the machine could start a fire.
Coffee grounds in coffee
If the paper filter is not placed perfectly, or if you are messy with pouring the coffee grounds, the grounds get into the plastic filter cup and then into your coffee. (Ew)
Feel steam when pouring (ouch!)
When you get to pouring out the last bit of coffee in the pot, the your hand is directly over the cup, which can get burned with the steam coming off the hot coffee.
