Human Use Analysis: Simmons Hall Laundry

Summary

In theory, having multiple laundry rooms around the building is helpful, but this often means that residents have to drag their laundry from room to room in order to find machines that are actually available to use.

All interviewed users agreed that the worst part about the laundry system was the inacuraccy of the website. Machines that have laundry in them still or that are out of order are usually marked as available, which is misleading. The confusing signage in the room has also led to many mistakes and subsequent frustrations for users. This includes the ordering of machines, the labeling of the top and bottom dryers, methods of accepted payment, and the posters around the room that contradict information on the machines themselves.
