Project Abstract:

In this thesis, I describe a new technique for the creation of a two dimensional map of an indoor static environment using sensor data. The proposed algorithm uses the sensor data obtained using crickets and utilizes the two dimensional surface reconstruction techniques to map the environment. The problem has been decoupled into two, (1) to be able to effectively reconstruct a map given sufficient data. And (2) to obtain data from a moving target using crickets which are sensor devices used in indoor location system. The algorithm utilizes the data obtained from the moving target to map out the environment by utilizing the surface reconstruction techniques suggested in the power crust algorithm.
