(New Users) Install $SumMIT with DAL on your workstation
| - (Windows 95/NT users) OTG $SumMIT runs better on 95/NT than does $SumMIT with DAL, and the installation is simpler.
- (Power Mac users) The OTG $SumMIT installation is simpler; and there are some advantages to running OTG $SumMIT on a power Mac.

Steps for installing $SumMIT with DAL
- Get $SumMIT installation file on your workstation,
- Install $SumMIT with DAL files (on Mac or Windows 3.1)
- Update to $SumMIT v4.40 via CAO's web site.

(Mac users) Get $SumMIT on your workstation
There are 3 steps you need to perform, as described below. Note: You need a MIDAS userid on MITVMA to perform the first two steps.
1. (Mac users) Set MIDAS Download Options
- Run TN3270; and logon to MITVMA.
Note: Click here to download TN3270.
- When you get to the CAO main menu, enter "MIDAS" and select option 5.
Result: The MIDAS Options screen displays, shown below.
- Check to see that your Data Format and Transmission Protocol options are set correctly.
For a Mac, data format = tab-limited, transmission protocol = WMac
(see the sample screen below).
- To enter/change a MIDAS Options setting, tab to the field to its left, and type X.
To erase a setting, tab to the field to its left, and press Spacebar.
- Press RETURN to save the settings.
Result: A message reports that your options were updated successfully.
Press your key for PF3 repeatedly to redisplay the CAO main menu.

2. (Mac users) Download $SumMIT from CAO Main Menu
- On the command line of the CAO main menu, enter SUMDOWN.
- When prompted, select which version (regular, Power Mac) to download.
- When prompted, press Return to continue.
Result: A dialogue box prompts you for a transfer destination folder.
- Click on the Desktop button to select your desktop.
Note: Do NOT change the filename.
- Click on Save to continue.
Result: The download takes a few minutes. A window opens to report on its progress.
