Research Summary
I am further developing the work in cell backpacks by making the attachment between the backpack and the cell more robust. Covalent attachment using maleimide chemistry will be developed for the attachment of the polymer multilayers to cell surfaces. This chemistry would make the attachment permanent and more versatile, broadening the types of cells that we can use for backpack attachment. The concept of covalent attachment to cells can be further extended to attach cells to other surfaces, which is another area of exploration in my research.
