Translation of Papyrus #38, Batch #7, Site A

Translation by Dr. Sarah Mercer

The moon has gone and returned since Ehab has last seen Ra cross the sky. Imhotep said all would work but chamber stones collapsed. Kagemni, Harkhuf, and Ehab went into the tomb once more to see the damaged chamber stones. Another great sound shook Giza and broke further the pyramid. The sealing [plug] stones moved into place. Kagemni, Harkhuf, and Ehab were trapped inside tomb. Food and water and air came inside through completed air ducks. [Ehab writes 'wind' -sjm] Soon (boils, blisters, or burns) appeared on all arms and legs.
On this papyrus, we finally learn why the pyramid was never used as a tomb: the plug stones were sealed before their time. But what are these great sounds that shake the area? Hany does not follow the earthquake theory. This area has been stable for millenia. Most likely there were metor impacts in the area. That would of course account for the glowing lights Ehab described in papyrus 27. But would there be radiation to account for the "burns" they experienced?

Ehab and two others who were probably also master stone cutters were trapped inside the pyramid. The plug stones were designed to be the last stones moved. How they escaped is an interesting story.
