About the Infinite Mile Awards

The School of Engineering’s Infinite Mile Awards are intended to support the Institute’s and School’s objectives for excellence. The awards are presented in three categories at an annual ceremony each spring. The categories and criteria for the awards are:

DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY

Nominees for this award promote diversity and harmony in the workplace by taking positive steps to promote cross-cultural sensitivity and a strong sense of community. This individual creates or helps to create a welcoming and supportive environment in which all are encouraged to excel.

EXCELLENCE

Successful nominees are individuals or teams of individuals (generally no more than five people) whose work is of the highest quality. They stand out because of their high level of commitment and because of the enormous energy and enthusiasm they bring to their work.

INSTITUTIONAL COOPERATION

Nominees for these awards welcome and make the most of opportunities to collaborate across units. They may have contributed successfully to cross-functional efforts. They embrace the needs and values of the Institute as a whole and are generous with their time and their knowledge.
