Conclusion
The EWGs’ preliminary recommendations were shared with the MIT community for comment from June to October 2017, and the final recommendations were presented at the October faculty meeting. The MIT Provost has received these final recommendations and is evaluating and prioritizing them to determine the best pathways for implementation. Considerations include the potential impact of these suggestions on current campus activities and the availability of funding for new mandates.
The EWGs expect that many of these recommendations will have broader implications beyond The Engine. Some EWG recommendations have already been implemented, including a June 2017 faculty startup boot camp jointly run with The Engine and the development of new standard agreements for technology licensing and IP.
