U.S.-Canada Winter School on Biomolecular SolidState NMR

Stowe, Vermont, January 20-25, 2008

Organized by Robert Tycko (NIH) and Robert G. Griffin (MIT)

Purpose

This Winter School was designed to be a pedagogical meeting aimed at students and postdoctorals in the field of biomolecular solid state NMR, as well as more senior scientists who are interested in entering this field. The primary goals of the school are
  • to foster the scientific development of the next generation of biomolecular solid state NMR spectroscopists
  • to introduce biomolecular solid state NMR methods to senior scientists who are currently working in related fields
  • to encourage the sharing of information and the development of collaborative relationships among biomolecular solid state NMR groups, and consequently
  • to accelerate progress in the field.

Topics

  • the fundamental conceptual basis for modern techniques in biomolecular solid state NMR
  • practical aspects of solid state NMR hardware and the implementation of solid state NMR techniques
  • data analysis and numerical simulation methods
  • methods for the preparation of isotopically labeled peptides and proteins for solid state NMR.
