LSA.214 | Pragmatics

Robert Stalnaker
TR 2:55-4:35
location: 32-141
course web site: http://lsa.dlp.mit.edu/Class/214

This course will focus on foundational issues about pragmatics: the ever changing line (or lines) between semantics and pragmatics, different conceptions of context, the Gricean distinction between saying and meaning, the notion of implicature, and its role in the explanation of linguistic phenomena.
