Mac OS 8 and 9 Known Bugs
Behavior Workaround I experience pauses during typing when I have Kerberos tickets. Upgrade to Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0.3, which fixes this problem. The Kerberos Menu and Kerberos Control Strip may display incorrect ticket status and users after the fall Daylight Savings Time change. Restart your Macintosh. The Kerberos Login dialog gives an error saying "unexpected reply from KDC" when I try to get new tickets after the fall Daylight Savings Time change. Quit and relaunch the application you're trying to get tickets in. Kerberos crashes when I log in and my time zone is not set. Restart, set your time zone, and try again. Kerberos for Macintosh may not work with foreign language versions of Mac OS 9.1 and higher. (Gives you an error saying that "MIT Kerberos•TicketKeeperLib could not be found.") Move the files "Kerberos Library" and "Kerberos Support Library" from the "Kerberos" folder in the "Applications Support" folder to the "Extensions" folder, and restart your Macintosh. (Note - "Applications Support" and "Extensions" will have a localized names.) This problem is the result of a bug in the Mac OS. The latest installer attempts to install the files in "Extensions" to avoid this problem. Applications may run out of memory sooner or not run at all because of insufficient memory. Increase memory allocation by up to 250K. Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0.1 requires more memory than 2.5.1. Some Kerberos v5 applications such as BetterTelnet and KLPR which have support for earlier versions fail on launch trying to find a Kerberos library. This is because the Kerberos v5 library CFM version number changed. None. These applications will need to be rebuilt against the new libraries. Applications with custom CDEFs which override the Appearance CDEF will cause the Login dialog to behave strangely (e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint). None. You must close the resource file that contains the custom CDEF before calling Kerberos functions which may display a dialog. Trying to open AppleShare server with KClient UAM from the Chooser does nothing. Use the Network Browser. Trying to open AppleShare server with KClient UAM from the Network Browser under Limited mode with Mac OS 9's Multiple Users does not succeed. Make an alias to that server configured to use the KClient UAM available to that user.
KfM under Classic Known Bugs
Behavior Workaround Classic ticket sharing stops updating the Classic side after using the Classic Kerberos Menu to get or destroy Kerberos tickets. Avoid getting Kerberos tickets via the Kerberos Menu when in Classic; if this happens, restart your Mac. Upgrade to Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0.3, which handles this behavior better. The menu bar flashes light and dark when a Classic application brings up the Mac OS X Kerberos Login dialog, and again when the dialog goes away. None.
