K5Client Support in Kerberos for Macintosh

K5Client is a substitute driver that enables Eudora to use K5Pop through the KClient API. Since the current K5Client will not work with Kerberos for Macintosh 3.5/4.0 (because two KClient drivers cannot be present), we have added support for it.

K5Client support is not required at most sites. Do not enable it unless instructed to do so by your system administrator.

K5Client support is only available under Mac OS 8.x and 9.x. K5Client support is not available under Mac OS X because there is no support for the Classic Mac OS driver model under Mac OS X.

This support is disabled by default. To enable it, do the following:

  1. Quit all Kerberos-using applications.
  2. Open Kerberos Preferences in a resource editor such as ResEdit or Resourcerer.
  3. Create a resource of type 'k5cl' and ID 128 in your Kerberos Preferences file. It does not need to contain data, it merely needs to be present.
  4. Save the file and quit the resource editor.

We recommend you add the 'k5cl' support to the system Kerberos Preferences file - for more information about Kerberos Preferences, see the documentation.
