Research summary:
My work focuses on understanding the effects of the protein corona on the flow behavior of nanoparticles (NPs) in the context of cancer drug delivery. I am particularly interested in how the protein corona influences the paracellular and transcellular permeabilities of NPs. In order to perform the investigation, I have developed an in vitro microfluidic based permeability assay that allows us to modulate the paracellular route of endothelial permeability so as to direct the movement of NPs towards the transcellular route. This allows us to mechanistically probe for the transcytosis of corona coated NPs, providing knowledge to help shape the rational design of NP systems for cancer drug delivery.
