Resources for Students

The MIT Edgerton Center provides hands-on educational experiences for undergraduates at MIT. The Center creates opportunities for students, especially freshmen, to engage in challenging activities and projects in engineering and science.
The Edgerton Student Machine Shop provides training in the use of machine tools, access to them and guidance in project planning. The monthly training program is conducted evenings and daytime is open for student use.
ASME is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. It offers a number of student benefits including conferences, competitions and awards, financial assistance through scholarships, fellowships and student loans, and career resources. Check out the MIT chapter of ASME to get involved on a local level.
SWE is the Society of Women Engineers. It also offers career guidance, scholarships, recognition programs, conferences and student activities. MIT SWE helps to organize a career fair every fall and hosts the Beaver Dash (a campus-wide design competition) in the spring.
