Get Involved with DME

Mechanical Engineering Alumni/ae

There are a number of exciting ways interested Course 2 alums can help out with DME:

Have Lunch With Freshmen!
During lunch, you will have a group of five or six freshmen to talk to. We hope this will provide an opportunity to ask questions, hear interesting stories and learn more about life after earning a mechanical engineering degree. Best if you are skilled at leading discussions and story telling and have limited time to spare in your busy schedule.
Teach Soldering!
Do you offer soldering certification classes? Do you have excellent soldering technique? DME will be offering two one-hour soldering workshops . We are desperately seeking someone to teach freshmen to solder properly. Breakfast and lunch included as a tasty reward for you help.
Showcase Your Company!
Is your company a fun place to visit? Would you like to have freshmen take a tour of your workplace? We are always looking for new and interesting places to take the freshmen. Better if the location is within driving distance from MIT, and if the students can be broken up into smaller groups for the tours. A great way to get MIT interns for the summer.
Help Build Soccerbots!
If you want to spend a lot of time with DME, you could assist the mentors in teaching the freshmen to build and assemble their robots. Get to know all of the students and staff participating in DME and have fun. Best if you like interacting with students and have experience with band saws, drill presses, soldering and wiring.
Grudge Match!
Compete against freshmen and show off your soccer playing skills! We would like to offer several grudge matches (mentors vs. freshmen, faculty vs. freshmen, alumni vs. freshmen) on the day of the contest. Only open to alumni that the freshmen have gotten to know through other DME activities. The robot will be provided. The grudge match will occur on Saturday, August 24th.
