Session 127

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 1 Day 1-46 TE 6061

We discover that any skin contacted by Blinky goes through the following transformations:

  1. For a day after, it's glowing green (detects as arcane, faintly evil)
  2. Then it turns scaly (Only residual magic remaining, evil mostly gone) for a day
  3. Then finally it turns pale and damp and smooth (still a bit of magic, minor curse indication: doesnt like sunlight)
  4. Then it returns to normal after a day or so

Kyrik idly wonders if exposure to the Agothu was what drove Ondoval mad, and Imre thinks that it in fact was.

At Karilon, Imre passes his Junior Loremaster test by the skin of his teeth in a mostly private test, and then wears his new Rolemaster ring around while in Karilon. Only Haerann notices, however.

Back in Sel-Kai, people do some shopping and noodling:

Imre goes to pick up his Xenium, and discovers that they've scheduled delivery in 2 years (6063). He decides to go back then.

He also does some ring shopping and finds a Ring of Poison (750g): gem on top; a Ring of Lammoth (several thousand): gold ring set with sapphire-- constant cancel mentalism essence and channeling; a Ring of Unbarring Ways (15K): lock, magic lock, lock lore, opening 1, and trap lore each once per day.

The proprietor, sensing money, brings Imre into the back room where he shows him some other interesting items: a bone rod (Vampiric Rod of Aging - 5000g) each successful hit ages target 1 year and gives 1/10 back; a broken ring (5 or 6 pieces) Ring of Breaking (2000g) +10 bar rolls for breaking spells; a Mace of Disruption - casts Disruptions 1 on a succesful hit. He thinks seriously about the Ring of Breaking.

Imre looks for books on other continents and finds:

About Govon. The Star Crown Empire, which was a kingdom like the aldari empire. It united Govon like aldaron did for Emer. (2 ranks region and culture lore) (10g)

About Palia: Empire of a Thousand Dawns. Palia is the homeland from which the elves of Namar-tol emigrated (2 ranks region and culture lore) (10g)

Imre buys 3 big wall maps: Emer, Jaiman, and Emer and Jaiman (50g each = 150g) and 200 silver pins with glass bead tops (red, green, blue, and yellow) (20 g)

Imre pays 900g for a non-durable teleport 1 item for good mom, which pretty much puts the kaibosh on the Ring of Breaking right now. Ah well.

Kyrik looks for books: about Thuul: The Kingdom of the Desert Jewel and Nomads of the Nine Nations. He also finds the Isle of Jade, which is an island off the eastern coast of Emer. The book talks about the cult of the Jade dragon on that island.

He also putters about, asking about those squirrely Brotherhood of the Word guys who ran away from us, but there's no more information to be had about them. Another expedition has returned from Tarania, but they didnt find so much of interest.

Haerann shops for shields: Dragonscale shield (2500 g) fire and fire-like attacks; +10 target shield that acts as full shield (480g). He buys the target shield. He then buys some scrolls:

  • displacement 3 (lv.9) warrior mage (18g)
  • personal shield 3 (lv.15) manamolder (67.5g)
  • mechanisms way (lv.9) (13.5g)
  • ignore elements (lv.16) warrior mage (48g)
  • hidden pouch (lv.10) travelers ways (15g)

and sponsors another group of young paladins to help in Nuyan-khom.

Afterwards, he putters in the Santa Vallandra area. There, he encounters a drifter with quite a bit of tactics and battlefield knowledge and how to run an army. Not so much a mage, though, but skilled at languages. Haerann thinks he's from Rhakhann. The guy is familar with Rhakhanni tactics and organization. Haerann asks for a dream to determine if this is the guy he wished for and gets a dream that indicates that the guy is looking to make a home somewhere. Imre goes with Haerann next time. Imre casts all kinds of stuff on the guy, who notices. His name is Capt. Johann Iversen, formerly of House Nolgara. Apparently House Nolgara has been stripped of its lands. So sad for them. The captain wonders what kind of position he would have were he to stick around. Haerann decides to make him a colonel. It means he's mostly in charge of the army, but he should think of the mayor as being local nobility.

Alynna buys good brother a blur ring and a sleep 7 ring and a +10 rapier of shield 1, and +5 leather along with 1000g in trade gems.

Imre and Alynna send off good mom and good brother. Alynna sends off good brother with all the stuff she bought him above, in addition to her book of Orhan +10. Imre sends good mom off with the daily teleport 1. There is much crying.

Alynna and Imre get a bonus 2 fate points. yay!

We discover that the Lankani tried to go after Namar-tol and were squished due to the elves' new "flying carpets," which are clearly those flying sleds we nearly got our hands on. Apparently, an inventor/adventuress Loar named Selia Rendanar led an expedition in 6050 to the City of the Dead and just barely got out.
