The "private" climate

The notion of the "private" climate was a popular espoused in House Beautiful. This meant not only achieving privacy, but also choosing what kind of climate one wanted to inhabit (which varies across the country, up and down hills, and with proximity to the city), and completely controlling one's comfort in a balance of choreographed plantings and architectural features.
