* public meetings revealed desire to retain wild character and preserve site relatively as-is
but popularity of High Line may not allow for this
* plantings 'reflect' previous landscape but are intermixed with new species
* paradox of values: recreational vs. ecological
* retained tracks in some places but the 'wild' is gone
* graffiti policy wishy-washy: volunteers paint over graffiti on adjacent properties with
owners' permission - some give permission while others do not, leaving the site neither clear of
graffiti nor with a deliberate appreciation of it
