artifacts of railway - water tower, turntable, locomotives Design Aims * central walkway raised 32" above vegetation to give access across ten acre conservation area -- public is required to stay on the trail in this section
* tracks as foundation for walkways -- metal floors with cor-ten steel pillars as fencing
* elsewhere public access is unrestricted and footpaths throughout are built on ballast
Vegetation Management
* mowing clearings, removing some trees and roots -- succession is halted in some parts,
left alone in others, preserving both meadows and woodlands
