Südgelände Nature Park, Berlin -- Rewilding
* railway operations fostered the abundance -- plants and insects from the surrounding countryside followed the corridors * seeds and smaller animal life came as “stowaways” on trains from other regions * over the four decades of dereliction, plants colonized cuts, embankments, viaducts and ramps of the yard * resulted in a mosaic of habitat types - dry grasslands, tall herbs, shrub vegetation and damp woodlands![]()
