    • Movie: This is what happened to a student when he complained about his grade. I'm in blue, he is in red. After this crushing performance not a single other student one has come to my office.

Music

  • Music has always being a very important part of our lives. Recently, together with the kids, we formed a pop band. the kids write the lyrics (both in spanish and english) and we play all the instruments. Sometimes we have guest singers (usually family members).

  • We sell our music online on AMIE St.. This is an exchange music webpage.

  • Our band? Sleepy Dog

    • If you want to download our music you have to register in the web page (this is free).

    • Some of the songs are free. Therefore, after registering you can download the mp3 directly. If one of our songs have been downloaded a lot, then there the cost is roughly 13 cents the song.

    • If you register as a fan or friend then whenever we upload a song you'll receive an immediate email.

    • We record one song a month (roughly).

    • All our royalties are going to the kids - in fact, one third of that goes for charity (their choices) and the rest they save - Dani want to purchase a Ferrari, so, you better start helping him now....

Alexandra’s Melanoma Foundation Award:

·        On December 10th 2007, Alexandra (my older daughter) received an award from the Melanoma Foundation of New England.
There was a competition in Massachusetts involving kids from K all the way to 8th, asking them to design an advertising to increase awareness of skin cancer. The Ad had to mention the benefits of sun screen and yearly skin exams, as well as the detrimental effect that tanning salons, and long expositions to the sun, have.
Four awards were given in total, 2 for the younger ages, and 2 for 8th graders (Check here for the announcement and the names of the other kids). The award provided 1500 dollars to the schools to help build a shade structure.

o       Alexandra wrote a song. She wrote the lyrics and the music. We recorded it at home. Alexandra recorded all the voices (6 in total). Even the voice that sounds like a male is hers (what we did for that voice was to use a digital transposer to make her voice sound like a men). I only helped in the effects and the recording of the drums and bass. Everything else is her work.

§         Find the lyrics here

§         Here you have the song

§         Picture of the poster that the foundation prepared for the ceremony.

o       The award was given by Deb Girard, the executive director of the Melanoma Foundation of New England. Here you can find some pictures of the ceremony.
Please visit their web page, either to help, or to learn. Their message might be simple: “be aware of the sun”, or “your skin is
in”, but that doesn’t make it less important. Indeed, just to reiterate: USE SUN SCREEN!

I know that I might sound like an irrational fan, but truly I take full credit for all Alexandra’s achievements (obviously, you know it was all me).

Fight Against Children Hunger

o        Every 3.6 second someone dies of hunger; 3/4 of those deaths are children under 5 years old. This link transfers you to a web page in which sponsors donate a daily meal to one kid every time you visit the page. It is just some sponsors doing this for publicity.
Please help a kid just using 5 seconds of your time, which paradoxically is the exact time that lapses between two kids dying for not getting a meal.
You can use this only once a day, but you can do it every day. Thanks.... The Hunger Site

Personal Stuff

·         Stuff for the Macro Class at IESA (only in spanish... sorry)

o        Notas de Clase

o        Precio del petroleo y otros productos minerales.

·         Sports: For those that are interested in how curve balls and knuckle balls work here is a magnificent web page that discusses the physics involved: Aerodynamics in Sports Equipment.
