2. Vets and Medical Emergencies
It is recommended you bring your cat to the vet twice a year. Now, as college students, I know that may not be possible-- it is both a time commitment and a financial commitment. However, by taking on a cat, you have taken on a responsibility. Try to bring your cat to the vet at least once a year, for a physical and dental cleaning.
Because your pet does not brush their teeth, they need your help to take care of them. (Bad dental care can leave the cat in pain, and can affect their ability to eat. If your pet needs its teeth pulled, it's going to be expensive-- just like for humans. Remember, 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.' ) The vet's dental cleaning is crucial, but by feeding your pet special food once a day you can help their teeth. I recommend Science Diet Oral Care (or, well, my vet does.) Come to me (Claire) if you have any questions or want to borrow some food to see if your cat likes it!
