Osric and Neville are in Chaos, facing the Serpent and the Unicorn (from a safe distance).

The ancient dragon from Cailin's house is brought over to give a briefing, and states nothing interesting, other than that the blobs are young. Cailin is brought in to join in the fun. People speculate at some length. Toram is seen as a prime candidate. Princess Chandra determines that Toram is not within a scale. It is speculated that Toram may have escaped into the Spiral when Norton split and the Spiral blew up.
Cailin goes off to acquire Shannon and Duncan, for further Spiral expertise. Duncan is in the midst of making a Pattern staple gun.
Osric discusses the line of speculation with Shannon and Duncan. Duncan's response, directed at Shannon, "I told you so!"
The possibility is discussed. Was everyone who walked the Spiral after the boom contaiminated? Neville points out that he saw a pair of eyes behind Cailin the last time that he trumped him. Princess Chandra checks Cailin, is confused, checks again, and announces that there is a presence within Cailin. Andron, or one of his kind, should check Cailin.
Shannon goes down on one knee and asks Princess Chandra to check her as well.
Cailin asks Ilk to ask Melk to check his apprentice for taint -- an alternate presence within her. Ilk pings Melk, then leaves a note.
The Serpent's Apprentice stares at Cailin's soul, and discovers several things hanging off of it. At least one of them is foreign. He points it out to Princess Chandra, who says that's how she checked. Tearing off one of the bits might kill him.
The situation is discussed. All of those who walked the Spiral (recently) may have been contaminated. Duncan is delighted that he never walked the Spiral. Shannon starts crying. Princess Chandra checks Duncan, who winces, and then declares him clean.
Shannon and Cailin head to House Cara to get drunk. Ilk sends a note to House Cara, telling them to serve Cailin and friends from the Wixerbrau barrel.
An expendible member of the Etiquette Guild comes up to Neville and tells him that a woman named Cyndia is now in charge of the Warrior's Guild. Cyndia walked the Spiral, and is currently in shadow gathering a powerful army.
Cailin warns Ilk to update. Jean fishes Ilk to Chaos; Ilks update.
Neville examines Duncan's Pattern stapler.
Jean realizes that some of his bodies have Spiral spells. He warns various people, including Norton, Titania, and Faythe, that he may have budded into some contaminated bodies, and may have acquired an unfriendly head person.
Cailin asks Titania to check him for unwanted presences. He falls asleep, and wakes up to the scent of flowers.
Ilk tells Marial over the Realms Lord channel about Cyndia's possible condition. "Oh, that can't be good."
Cailin is about to get drunk.
