[If you don't get experience and there isn't a mage, it's not a party]
Dworkin was sent to the Paths of the Dead to recover from kicking the party off the Rebman Pattern.
The Boba-Jean is still trapped in the wall watching the Rebman Pattern.
Corwin, who is looking as if the throne is all that is holding himself upright, asks "Osric of House Chanicut", as the person who was coordinating the attack, to report.
"After a short wait, the adversary in question appeared in mid-walk of the Pattern... "
Corwin interjects that a researcher has been dispatched to investigate how Gwen has managed to accomplish some of her impossible things.
Ilk is blamed for the incident, not Norton, as is customary.
Osric notes that his weapon had some effect, though not as much as he had hoped. He then states that encasing her in his power stopped her dead upon the Pattern, and prevented her from either advancing or leaving. He also attempted to behead her, with little success.
Osric - "At that point, Norton arrived...."
Corwin - "We're fairly certain that it
was Ilkandacian..."
Osric - "I'm fairly certain that it was Norton."
Corwin - "Perhaps I had my time line
confused."
Osric continues, and ends by mentioning that he would like to return to destroy the statue in the grey place from which they rescued Malachai.
Corwin turns to Jean. "Please convey to the Savior of Chaos that we wish to give him commendation for his efforts in the destruction of our enemy."
Jean relays to Ilk, and after a few rounds of back and forth, Ilk agrees to return to the council chambers in a bit.
Ilk goes Home, and notices that its activity level is significantly lower than it should be. He polls it for status from a distance, and it responds warily, as if the report was being censored. Ilk polls manually for traps, checks the defenses, sets off something, and some of his troops leave to attack him.
Ilk ignores the attacking troops and enters, noticing that there is a fairly new signature impressed throughout a large percentage of the realm. It looks like Vlad tainted by Gwen. There, somewhere near the center, is Vlad, or most of Vlad, also covered by the modified signature. Ilk doesn't remember him having green eyes, though. Ilk passes the info to Suhuy, who goes into the council chambers and asks Corwin if their enemy has green eyes. The exact shade is requested, and turns out to match the green door.
Suhuy says that his apprentice went back to check out his home shadow because it had been visited frequently by Clarissa, and discovered it to be contaminated.
Corwin asks if anyone here would be willing to assist the Savior of Chaos in cleansing his home shadow. Osric, Cailin, Celeste, and Pharaban volunteer to help. Helgram volunteers their support as well.
Osric decides that they can hit her in two places in once, if someone could protect him while he saws at her statue. Jenoir's student is volunteered by Corwin.
Pharaban unfolds and says, "Those who wish, follow me." Neville, Celeste, and a few boba-Jeans follow.
Neville introduces one of his mages to Osric, and then to Cailin, so that the mages can coordinate the two attacks. Neville steps out of the council chambers and goes home to put on his Frogdellorian armor and discovers that in the space where he kept his pet there are now seven or eight of them.
Pharaban takes the group to the shadow next to Ilk's and says that he will make this spot safe for those rescued from that shadow. Some people can tell that this shadow is being made over heavily to match the one next to it. Celeste can tell that Pharaban is casually changing the life energy of the shadow.
Ilk makes holes in the Logrus barriers around his shadow for Pharaban's use, but Pharaban fails to take advantage of them. Ilk starts fighting against Vlad for control of the shadow. Suhuy channels power to Ilk.
Ilk observes a lance of ordered power reaching out and attacking Vlad.
Celeste starts trying to unweave the taint, and Norton in Celeste's head notices that the green door has just started to glow. It is resonating in tune with the signature that she is attacking. Norton tries to get Celeste to stop. She stubborn. Norton asks if Celeste has any Advil on her, and then presses the eject button.
[The GM goes off to look for a visual aid]
The back of Celeste's head is blown off. She feels a bit odd due to the breeze. Immediately after the explosion there is a small Norton on one side of the hole in her skull and a small Corwin on the other side scraping green goo off the edges. Celeste tries to faint, but Norton doesn't let her. Norton starts explaining very quickly, and Celeste sits down and asks Suhuy to keep an eye on "that", then starts throwing up. Given where she has been eating recently, some of it gets up and wanders off. Celeste sits there, ignoring everyone.
Neville is making progress.
Those people in the shadow protected by Pharaban hear a shred of laughter. Celeste is very glad because the laughter is not inside her head. "Norton, I'm not mad at you any more."
Pharaban walks over, looks at the thing, and says, "We are relocating."
Neville objects. "How about destroying it?"
"I do not believe that we have sufficient power gathered to destroy it at present." Pharaban steps to the next shadow over. The life-force in the shadow that the group is leaving is becoming something ugly and hostile under Pharaban's influence.
Celeste notices. "May I ask you why you are doing that?"
"Why make it easy for our enemy to enter a place?"
"Very well."
Osric, Cailin, and a sandstone Jean are preparing to exit the Fringe and attack the Gwen statue near the grey place. Osric looks through with a portable terminal and sees an empty room, except for a pair of wings pinned to the wall by Galantine. Osric gathers an army of large, nasty things and keeps it waiting on the platform. Osric tells Cailin to return to the Fringe and come back with the army if they are attacked by people.
Osric and Cailin examine the area, and discover that their powers cannot leave this room. Cailin conjures a ten foot pole and throws it at the edge of the room. It clatters. They poke around a bit, and notice that the room is surrounded by grey mist. Jean recognizes this grey as the place where he stopped working. Osric pokes a hole in the wall below the wings, revealing more grey mist, and Cailin levitates his pole into the hole. When the pole contacts the grey, the magic gave out and the pole fell, stuck in the hole.
Cailin tries to grab it with magic, and discovers that he can if he only grabs the part inside the room. Osric grabs the end of the pole with his power and starts waving it around. Cailin conjures the pole to greater and greater lengths and they wave it around, contacting nothing.
Osric grabs the wings with his power and tries to pull them out. He fails to get a grip on them. Cailin grabs the wings with magic and tries to pull. He feels someone peering into his mind, drops the magic, screams, and falls over. Osric shields him.
Osric, Jean, and Cailin discuss cutting the wings off or other courses of action.
Jean asks Suhuy if he knows about the grey mist. Norton responds. Suhuy observes that all of the threads of power between the former door are going into Ilk's shadow - it seems reasonable that Gwen's primary manifestation is in there. He asks Jean to relay that to the council chambers. Corwin turns to Brandt, Brand, Flora, and Janus and Gil and asks them to go join in the attack. Brandt trumps Celeste and is pulled through.
Osric makes a timer and sticks it into the grey and pulls it back out. The five minute timer goes "ding". Osric makes a radar device and sticks it into the grey. Before he begins to move it, the picture that comes back is changing from second to second. They continue to experiment.
Ilk notices a massive influx of order into his shadow. It's flooding the shadow, and doesn't seem to be going after him.
Cassandra has been in the Paths of the Dead watching Verra poke at Malachai. Morollan walks up to Cassandra, looking around somewhat wide-eyed, and bows to her. He says that the King in Chaos asks if she could lend her expertise to an effort that is going on in a grey misty area. A guy dressed in the colors of the Warriors' Guild and wearing a badge of the Mages' Guild is holding a gate open to the council chambers.
Osric asks for and receives a volunteer from his army. The volunteer goes through the Fringe gate, Cailin brain fries him, and Jean buds into him.
Cassandra goes through the gate. Corwin is sitting on the throne, looking much the worse for the wear. She bows to him. Corwin asks her to help some other people with the grey mist.
"Jean - could you arrange for the head of
the Warriors' Guild to aid you in your endeavors?"
"Can she fit in the fish?"
Cassandra trumps Jean. Jean pulls Cassandra through.
Norton tries to send a message through the Logrus blade to Ilkandacian.
"Ilk - it's Norton. I think that I've been grey sphered. Send money."
The new Jean says that he hopes that he'll be right back, opens the door, and steps into the grey.
Cassandra tells Jean and the others that they had never previously noticed time doing strange things in the grey mist.
Norton and his head people discuss escape.
Jean goes looking for Serena and Tazik.
Another Jean grabs a 10-foot pole and goes fishing for statues in the grey mist. He gets lost. They send in another Jean with a tether who discovers that even when his hand is touching the wall, the stick goes through the wall.
Jean is trumped by Random, and all Jean become stoned.
Norton and Ilk try to shadowshift the sphere around them, and fail. Norton tries turning into mist and then accelerating, on the grounds that he might be in a singularity. He passes the speed of light, and notices himself walking by backwards every now and then.
[The GM is a liar]
Ilk notices a wash of SuperPattern over the shadow placing the shadow and everything within it into stasis. Ilk tries to reach out and fails, decides that hanging around is a bad idea, and gates out. When he exits, he notices Gil and Johann walking back and forth emitting nasty waves of SuperPattern.
