Based on interviews and surveys performed in this study, a new product concept was developed. The new concept was based off of

  1. the two main critical product issues previously identified in the "Product Issues" section, and that

  2. 19 out of 25 students stated that they preferred online advertisements, but would never search online for information commonly found on the bulletin boards.
   
   
 

 New Product Experience: (Developed using formal design process)


  Steps for Posting Advertisements:
  1. Submit ad and its information to online system (MIT certificates required).

  2.  
  3. System checks ad for Date, Time, Location, Category, and Unauthorized Content.

  4.  
  5. System divides ads into categories and dates.

  6.  
  7. System posts ads on electronic bulletin boards based on categories and dates.

  8.  
  9. System updates ads "n" times a day, optimizing peak bulletin viewing hours versus ad information and its previous "activity."
 
  Steps for Viewing Advertisements:
  1. Find ad of interest.

  2.  
  3. Place MIT ID card near corresponding proximity reader.

  4.  
  5. Email is automatically sent to you with relevant advertisement information. For events, you can change your online settings to automatically update your Google or MS Outlook Calendar.
