Although tablets and Ebooks are the future, we're still in the present, which means that physical paper is used for many things.
At MIT, the Pharos Printing system allows community members to print at various locations around campus. The printers are all named "mit-print", and once a user sends the file, they can use their ID card to access their personal print queue at any Pharos printer. Every semester, MIT students are allocated 3,000 pages they can print through this system. Many of these printers are in Athena Clusters, student study and work spaces equipped with computers.
While the system has its issues (explored on this site), it definitely makes students' lives easier and less stressful.
