Users

Anyone with an MIT ID can use the Pharos system. This includes Undergraduates, Grad Students, Professors, and Other Staff, although the primary users are certainly the students. To gain some insight into how the primary Pharos users felt about their experience, I interviewed some Undergraduates. Here are some excerpted quotes:

"Card swiping could be better. For some reason I always have difficulty with color printers, it's not the smoothest system. Which is why I end up always printing from home or from my lab, unless it's an emergency."
    - Ohyoon, Sophomore

"It's nice to be able to print from anywhere and theoretically have a printer nearby, but actually finding those printers can be difficult.
    - Dave, Junior

"It's super convenient when you're in a last minute pinch to print something but locations aren't always so accessible. As someone who has their own printer I won't use Pharos as my main printing source but it's nice to have when you're in a rush on campus or if you need to print something you forgot when you're stuck on campus all day"
    - Brandon, Junior

"I really don't like the touchscreen interface. The functionality is limited enough that it could just have mechanical buttons work just as well. I would prefer that because the touchscreen is very unresponsive. Often I have to press a button 5 or 6 times to get it to activate."
    - Kim, Senior
