Restoring Communication

Do you know what the UA does?  Do you know who represents you on Senate?  How does the UA spend your money?

The Problem

Current communication with undergraduates is unacceptably low.  The UA communicates with you primarily though “UA Q&A” articles and goals checklists that are published in The Tech.   While we will continue with these traditions, they are insufficient at best.

The Solution

We will proactively communicate with you.  Rather than talk amongst ourselves in back rooms of the Student Center, we are going to reach out and allow you to communicate with us in a variety of ways.

Town Hall Meetings

Every week, we wi ll travel to a different dorm or FSILG to collect feedback.  We will discuss the issues that are important to you and let you know what the UA has been doing.

Office Hours

Every week, UA representatives will hold office hours in the Student Center or Lobby 10 .  They will be prepared to answer any questions or address any concerns that you might have.

E-mail Policy

If you e-mail us, you will receive a response within 24 hours – guaranteed.

Suggestion Boxes

We are going to place a suggestion box in every dorm and one in the Student Center for FSILGs so that you can leave us anonymous feedback.  All Senators will be charged with checking their constituents’ suggestion box once a week.

UA Newsletters

In case you cannot meet up with us in person, we will prepare a monthly newsletter that contains updates on the UA’s work and other useful information.

Coordination Council

Very little communication occurs between the various student governments.  There is a lot of crossover between the work of the UA, ASA, DormCon, IFC, Panhel, and LGC.  They need leverage each other’s strengths without duplicating each other’s efforts.  We wil l set up monthly meetings for the leaders of each governing body to make sure that these discussions take place.  T hey will be open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Our philosophy is simple – your issues are our issues.
