Projects for, about and by design

I have been involved doing engineering and design in an international development context since 2006. I worked extensively in this field from 2007 to 2009 with both the Amazon Conservation Association in Cusco, Peru and the Universidad de Cayetano Heridia in Lima, Peru. My job with the Amazon Conservation Association was to be the engineer working with rural communities. We worked closely with the communities to identify problems which were important to them and collaboratively create solutions that worked within their local constraints.

Throughout this time period, I worked on many projects including oil presses, leaf dryers, agricultural processing equipment, water treatment devices, medical devices, water pumps, improved cookstoves and more. Pictured are some of the prototypes or projects I was involved with.
