La Défense

La Défense is the business district of Paris. Full of modern architecture and skyscrapers, the district stands out because of the Grande Arche de la Défense, which aligns almost perfectly with the Arc de Triomphe nearly five kilometers away. In addition, artwork of all kinds lines the quartier, which is only accessible by foot because vehicles are not permitted. From frog-shaped drinking fountains, to oddly-shaped metallic objects, La Défense is truly an open air museum. Because of the high-rise buildings, our visit was interrupted by strong bouts of wind. Nonetheless, the view from the top of the square arch was unlike anything we had ever seen.
