Donate musical instruments

Ginny Siggia is organizing a drive for musical instruments, scores, stands, and concert clothing. She is working with a music teacher from Pass Christian, Mississippi, a town that was 90% destroyed by Hurricane Katrina; the music teacher is trying to somehow rescue his school district's music program. If you can donate instruments or other requested items in good working condition, or if you can donate funds to assist with shipping and insurance, please contact Ginny Siggia at or Sally Susnowitz at , 617-258-7344

Donate items for evacuees on Cape Cod

MIT Federal Credit Union is a collection point for the following items need for the evacuees located on Cape Cod. Please feel free to drop off any of the items below during our business hours of Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4:00 located at NE48 (700 Technology Sq).

Plastic coat hangers, Plastic trash bags 13-gallon, Umbrellas, Rain ponchos, Dog food, Toiletries - all items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), New clothing (especially undergarments and socks), Diapers, Baby wipes, Bottled water

Convert items to much-needed funds

Other clothing drives are not being run currently because so much excess clothing has been sent to the Gulf region that it has begun to constitute a problem in itself for already overburdened relief workers. Despite news sources to the contrary, the Salvation Army has at this time stopped taking in-kind donations and has requested that people channel their clothing donations to local community needs.

If you have information about a community in the Gulf region that does need clothing and you also have a specific agency contact who will be able to receive the clothing, please let us know by contacting Sally Susnowitz susnowit@mit.edu or 617-258-7344. The Public Service Center will then arrange for a clothing collection for the community by working with students and staff who are eager to help.

The need for funds remains high. If you have clothing or household items that you wish to donate, please consider running a yard sale and donating the proceeds to hurricane relief fund drives.
