LSA.305 | Introduction to Laboratory Phonology

Mary E. Beckman and Jennifer Hay
TR 8:15-9:55
location: 2-139
course web site: http://www.ling.ohio-state.edu/~mbeckman/LSA305/

This two-part course introduces laboratory methods for investigating phonological phenomena. The first part of the course will focus on phenomena at the interface with phonetics and will be taught by Mary Beckman. The second part of the course will focus on phenomena at the interface with the lexicon and will be taught by Jennifer Hay. Both parts assume a basic background in phonology, of the sort that might be got from a short undergraduate or LSA institute course in phonology or a longer introduction to all areas of linguistics that devotes two or more weeks on phonology and phonetics. Students are encouraged to take both parts, but the first part is not pre-requisite to the second.
