Brockton's Brightfields Project

The City of Brockton will develop a 1 MW Solar array at a former manufactured gas plant site on Grove Street. The facility will be constructed within an attractively designed park setting featuring interpretive displays for educational purposes. The first Phase will feature 425 kW of installed capacity on the parcel known as "Plot 19" and an educational plaza.

This project analyzes the case of Brockton, Massachusetts in developing a photovoltaic array on a 27-acre brownfield on Grove Street.

The project is budgeted at $3.02 million, of which $1.6 million will be financed through a municipal bond issue, $500,000 is provided through a land transaction, $840,600 from a grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's Renewable Energy Trust, and $59,400 (possibly more) through grants from the US Department of Energy.
