Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
The study of how people work with computers and how computers can be designed to help people use them effectively.
Heuristic Review
A technique for finding usability problems within a user interface. A small number of trained evaluators separately inspect a user interface by applying a set of "heuristics," or broad guidelines that are generally relevant. The results are combined and ranked by the importance of each problem to prioritize fixing each problem.
Human Factors
The field that studies the role of humans in human-machine systems and how systems can be designed to work well with people, particularly with regard to safety and efficiency.
