The
Science, Technology and Global Security Working Group believes that
international non-governmental scholarly collaboration on issues
of arms control and international security can be highly effective
as a means of influencing individual national policies. STGS works
to develop an international community of independent technically-trained
analysts who can effectively learn and work together to influence
their governments. One way that they work to promote this goal is
through the International Visitors Program.
The program brings scientists from countries around the
world, such as Russia, China, and India, to the Group at MIT for
extended research visits. Many of these visits are by young scientists
who are relatively new to the security field but are interested in
making the area the focus of their career.
