For 16.410 students, this problem set is comprised of both an online portion
and a written portion, given below. 16.410 students should log into the online
tutor, and complete the online problems under problem set #9 by the due date
(12/03/04). 16.410 students must complete the three problems listed below,
turning in hardcopy solutions as indicated above.
16.413 Assignment
16.413 students do not have any online problems assigned, only a written assignment.
Please complete the three problems listed below and turn in hardcopy solutions
to the course secretary, as indicated above.
Paper solutions are due no later than 5pm on Friday, 12/03/04.
Available at Brian O'Conaill's desk outside 33-330 are photocopies of Ch. 4 of Hillier & Lieberman's "Introduction to Operations Research".
Chapter 4 is entitled "Solving Linear Programming Problems: The Simplex Method".
Some small errata corrected in the latest version.
Igor Ganichev and Joshua Chang have graciously offered to be TAs for the rest of the semester.
Their office hours will be:
Igor: Wednesdays 3-5pm, Sundays 4-6pm at W20 cluster on 5th floor
Joshua: Sundays, Thursdays 3-5pm in 33-202
In order to simplify the solution of this planning problem, we have replaced
the original pair of goals:

(off-rocket)
with:
(rocket-fired)
(fuel-flowing)
The plan graphs in your solution should not need to contain more than two
action layers and three proposition layers.
Problem Set #6 has been distributed on Friday, 10/22/04. Solutions are due on paper, and should be submitted no later than 5pm on Friday, 10/29/04. Please give solutions to the course secretary, Brian O’ Conaill, at his desk outside of 33-330.
Note that solutions to the problem set will be posted on the web at 5pm on Friday, 10/29/04, hence, no late problem sets will be accepted.
The final exam for both 16.410 and 16.413 will be held on Monday, December 13th in Room 33-419 from 9am-12pm.
