Masdar Institute Ranks First in UAE and Among Top 20 Western Asian Academic Institutions in 2016 Nature Index

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology has been ranked first in the UAE and 20th among Western Asian academic institutions in the Springer Nature Index 2016 annual rankings.

Masdar Institute is also the only academic institution from the UAE to be ranked within the Top 50 institutions in the Nature Index 2016 Western Asia list, demonstrating its high quality research outputs.

Masdar Institute Climbs in US News Rankings

June 30, 2016

US News and World Report has released its second annual Best Arab Region Universities report, which examines 124 universities in 18 countries. In overall rankings, Masdar Institute moved up from a tie for 23rd last year to 14th this year.

In subject area rankings, Masdar Institute landed in the top ten for Energy, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science and Materials Science, and in the top 20 for Chemical Engineering and Computer Science.

Masdar City Poised for Accelerated Growth

Ten years ago the construction of Masdar Institute began, as the first tenant of Masdar City. The development of the overall city (which is not affiliated with MIT) continues to signal Abu Dhabi’s commitment to creating an international center to pioneer sustainable technologies.

While about 5% of the planned built-up area has been completed so far, city developers have noted this month that within the next 5 years it is projected to reach 35%.
