Atlantis II Geology Lab Needs
Since most of our experiments revolve around data being collected on-site,
the geology
lab for the first six months of operation will be relatively bare. We will
need:
One computer per onsite geologist, with a central server capable of
processing large
amounts of data quickly
Electron and Optical microscopes for analysis of core samples
Basic chemical lab equipment (i.e. glassware, Bunsen burners, ring
stands, standard
laboratory chemicals such as sulfuric/hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide
in the
form of a kit with which the onboard geologists are familiar and
comfortable)
Storage space for samples to be sent to surface
Spectroscopy equipment for rapid identification of chemicals
