Getting Started

The first step is to ensure that you have added the course locker. This is done by the following command at your Athena prompt.

athena% add 13.021

To skip this step, all you have to do is put the command add 13.021 in a file called .environment in your Athena home directory.

Make sure you are running on a Sun platform before issuing the following command. This will open the current version of PFlow.

athena% /mit/13.021/programs/pflow &

At this point PFlow should open with at least two windows, one being the Main Window and the other being the PFlow Singularities Window. If the singularities window does not initially appear, this can be corrected by going to the Options Menu on the menu bar and selecting Show Singularities Table.

Note: There is always a freestream present. To turn it on, you simply click on the entry you wish to change and input the desired value followed by a carridge return. To learn more about changing the characteristics of singularities and freestreams, go to Working with Singularities.
