First, we needed to darken the internal walls in order to see the infinity mirror effect. We explored several methods, including black cloth, paint, and gatorboard. We ended up choosing gatorboard because of our access to the material, which we just cut with exacto knife.
Then we needed to add a layer of reflective surface on the bottom. We used acrylic mirrors and cut them to fit our internal dimensions on the laser cutter, at exactly 13.375' x 82.5'.
Then, we layed out a row of LED which circumscribed the entire internal perimeter. I soldered 2.5 LED strips together to create one continuous 16 feet strip. Then I repeated this so we can have two rows, which we determined from test to give a more infinite effect. We offsetted the LED strip from the bottom layer by 5 inches, and also 5 inches from each other.
Lastly, we laser cutted a layer of acrylic to top off the infinity mirror. We offsetted this from the top LED layer by 5 inches.
