SMA collaborates with a variety of research institutes and industrial members on projects that prove advantageous to all parties involved.

These research collaborations frequently include laboratory investigations, student-faculty mentoring and technology disclosures. Some examples of the collaborative research work that are currently in progress include:

The AMM&NS Flagship Research Project Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology on a Silicon Platform and Inter-University Project Lattice-Mismatched Materials, which draw together research manpower from SMA and the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE).

The CSB Inter-University Project Techniques for, and Applications of, Mass-Action Kinetics Models, which partners the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN).

The CE Inter-University Project Effective Computation: Reduced Order Models and Uncertainty Management in Numerical Simulations, which collaborates with SunStar Engineering.

And finally, the MST Inter-University Project Design and Planning of Supply Chains for Emerging Industries, which partners Hewlett Packard.
