Career Sharing Session

The SMAAC organised a career sharing session in NUS, for graduating CS, IMST, MEBCS students on 26 February 2005. The purpose of this session was to help students better prepare for their careers as well facilitate interaction and networking between the alumni and students. The informal and highly interactive session was attended by about 50 alumni and students, during which SMA alumni from the respective programmes were invited to share their insights on their job responsibilities and working experiences in various companies in Singapore. Students and speakers exchanged views freely on the broad range of opportunities available to SMA students in addition to the potential challenges ahead.

“SMAAC has helped to widen my network by linking me to a pool of alumni who can offer advice on issues such as coursework and job-hunting. As alumni, we share our experiences at SMA and are united by the common goal of helping students and alumni of SMA stay close together through the activities that are organised.”

Helen Chuwardi, HPCES, S.M. graduate, Class of 2001

“It’s fortunate that I joined SMAAC because it gives me a chance to interact with people from other batches and programmes through activities like Project Rainbow. This charitable project also allows us to make a small contribution towards the needy of the society and I think SMAAC should organise more of such meaningful activities in future.”

Derrick Ang, AMM&NS, S.M. graduate, Class of 2003

“The SMA programme has given me one year of memorable experiences. Being part of the Alumni Club not only gives me a chance to network with students from different programmes but also contribute to SMA in return.”

Cheng Xiao Yi, CS, S.M. graduate, Class of 2004

“One of the SMAAC’s objectives is to enable the alumni to keep in touch with one another. By being an active member of the Club, I have managed to keep in contact with those in my year of study as well as my juniors.”

Shidrati Ali, HPCES, Ph.D. graduate, Class of 2004

“SMAAC has provided an avenue for us to get to know more people as well as opportunities for us to work as a team despite everyone’s busy schedule. There have been many interesting events in this short one-year period. Keep up the good work and SMA spirit!”

Goh Wei Kyan, IMST, S.M. graduate, Class of 2003
