Survey Instruments

Baseline Survey  /  CDC Election Monitoring  /  Sub-Project Selection Procedure Monitoring

The primary source of data for the study is multiple rounds of household and focus group surveys administered annually in the 500 evaluation villages. The first of these surveys ("baseline" survey) was administered in August and September of 2007 prior to both the initiation of any NSP-related activities in the 10 evaluation districts and the assignment of evaluation villages to the treatment and control groups.

The baseline survey is to be followed by a second "follow-up" survey, to be administered in the autumn of 2008 or the spring of 2009, and potentially by a third "follow-up" survey. The evaluation team hopes to interview the same participants in each of the survey rounds, thereby providing a rich longitudinal dataset spanning two to three years.

Data collected by the baseline and follow-up surveys is to be supplemented by that generated through monitoring exercises focused on key stages in the NSP mobilization process, such as the CDC elections and the sub-project selection procedure. Instruments employed for the baseline survey and for the CDC election and sub-project selection procedure monitoring exercises are available here:
