Transportation

Logan International Airport

Most out of town attendees will probably fly into Logan International Airport. This is the most convenient airport and taxis between the airport and MIT or the Hyatt typically take 20 minutes depending on traffic and cost approximately $25. It is also possible to use the subway from the airport but it takes approximately 45 minutes and would involve some walking which may not be desirable with luggage. We do not recommend renting a car as driving in Boston is non-trivial and parking is always a problem. Walking to and from the Hyatt or using the available shuttle should be adequate for the two days of this meeting.

Public Transport

If you are staying longer and wish to see more of Boston then we suggest using the Massachusetts Bay Transport Authority commonly referred to as the "T". This subway system has a stop, "Kendal/MIT" on the red line, convenient to MIT and easily connects to most areas of Boston (see subway map). A single ride on the "T" costs $1.70 but passes are available for $9 / day or just $15 / week.

Walk

MIT is just across the Charles River from Boston and a short walk gets you to Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Fenway ... Or walk along the Charles River until you come to that other school in Boston.
