Asilomar Conference Grounds

Asilomar Conference Grounds are located along the shoreline of California’s Monterey Peninsula in Pacific Grove. For the conference, the weather is predicted to be middle 50's midday and rainy with nighttime lows in the 40's. Pacific Grove is approximately 105 miles south of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and about 75 miles south of San Jose International Airport (SJC). Both airports are serviced by the Monterey Salinas Airbus, which provides service to Asilomar Conference Grounds. There are also several car rental companies that provide service in the Monterey area. For car rental information and local driving directions see below. It is strongly recommended to make your transportation arrangements (flight as well as airbus/rental car) well in advance. We have negotiated special room rates on the Asilomar conference grounds - please register for your room(s) directly with Asilomar.

Check-in: Please check-in on Wednesday, January 5th from 1pm - 4pm in the front office to receive conference materials and room assignment. Late check-in is also acceptable in the same location for room assignment only. Contact conference Administrator, Shannon McElhiney (onsite) to receive conference materials.

Activities: Full and half-day bike rentals available. Outdoor year-round heated swimming pool (no lifeguard) and a sand volleyball court. Ping-pong and billiard tables are available for guest use. Ranger led interpretive walks may be planned through the Park Ranger Office (831) 372-4076. A lending library and board games are available at the Front Desk. Coastal boardwalk and self-guided walking tours are also available.

Off-Ground Attendees: The facility fee for off-ground participants is $32 per person, due upon check-in if not prepaid. Meal tickets for off-ground attendees may be purchased at the Front Desk on a space available basis.

Driving Directions

From San Francisco Bay Area or San Jose:
Asilomar is approximately 120 miles south of downtown San Francisco (about 105 miles from San Francisco International Airport) and about 75 miles south of San Jose. Take 101 south to 156 West. Take 156 West to highway 1 South, through Monterey to the Pebble Beach / Pacific Grove exit, and highway 68 West. For about 3-1/2 miles you will then be on a portion of Highway 68 West that is also called the Holman Highway. Stay on Highway 68 West/Holman Highway until it becomes a city street called Forest Avenue. Continue on Forest Avenue for about 1 mile and make a left turn onto Sinex Avenue. In just under 1 mile, Sinex Avenue ends right at the front gates to Asilomar.

 

From Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, or San Luis Obispo:
Asilomar is approximately 325 miles from downtown Los Angeles (about 310 miles from LAX). Take 101 North though Salinas to 156 West. Take 156 West to highway 1 South, through Monterey to the Pebble Beach / Pacific Grove exit, and highway 68 West. For about 3-1/2 miles you will then be on a portion of Highway 68 West that is also called the Holman Highway. Stay on Highway 68 West/Holman Highway until it becomes a city street called Forest Avenue. Continue on Forest Avenue for about 1 mile and make a left turn onto Sinex Avenue. From Salinas:
Take Highway 68 West to Highway 1 South to Highway 68 West to Pacific Grove. Just past the Monterey Peninsula Airport, Highway 68 West overlaps Highway 1 for about 5 or 6 miles. Stay on Highway 68 West/Highway 1 and take the Pacific Grove exit. For about 3-1/2 miles you will then be on a portion of Highway 68 West that is also called the Holman Highway. Stay on Highway 68 West/Holman Highway until it becomes a city street called Forest Avenue. Continue on Forest Avenue for about 1 mile and make a left turn onto Sinex Avenue. In just under 1 mile, Sinex Avenue ends right at the front gates to Asilomar.
