Resources

Resources are the currency of RTS; they are available in finite quantities on the map. You usually construct your buildings near the supply points of resources. Having your worker units harvest resources increases the amount you own. Producing units and constructing buildings decrease the amount of resources you own. Adding different types of resources and different combinations of unit/building "prices" is another way game designers can increase a game's complexity. In general, more powerful units cost more resources to produce than weaker units. This is the "harvest" part of the model.
