Les Marchés
Marketplaces

Many mornings (especially weekends), a large number of Parisians take to open air markets to get their shopping done. One can purchase fresh meat, cheese, bread, and produce—what more could one need? Markets provide a decisively different experience than the supermarket and can be quite lively and social places. It's not clear if the prices are better than at the supermarket, but if you know where to look, you can probably find some great deals. Plus, the selection of fruits and vegetables is far superior to most supermarkets in the city.

The markets can sell a lot more than food. There are also flea markets (marché de puces), flower and plant markets, and markets that sell small animals and birds.
